6. Ho-Goo’s Love (2015)
In 2015, Woo-Shik participated as the lead actor in a drama lifted from a webtoon entitled Ho-Goo’s Love. The drama was written and directed by Yoo Hyun-Sook, Yoon Nan-Joong, and Pyo Min-Soo, and it was aired by tvN with 16 episodes. Choi Woo-Shik plays Kang Ho-Gu along with former member of AFTERSCHOOL Uee.
This drama is about Ho-Gu who has never dated in his life. He runs into his first love Do-Hee, played by Uee. She is a member of the national team and has a burning desire to win. She also talks like one of the guys. After Ho-Gu meets Do-Hee again, he’s involved in a complicated romantic relationship and a dangerous friendship.
7. My Fantastic Funeral – 2015
This drama is directed by Park Sun-Ho and written by Kim Eun-Hyang and was aired by SBS with only 2 episodes. This is Woo-Shik’s first time as the main character in a drama with very few episodes. Woo-Shik plays Park Dong-Soo.
This drama tells the story of Jang Mi-soo, played by Kyung Soo-Jin, accepting that she is dying soon of a brain tumor and starting to prepare for her funeral. One day, she meets her schoolmate Park Dong-Soo who once declared his love for her but was rejected. When Mi-Soo realizes she is in love with Dong-Soo, she does not want to die. However, Dong-Soo, who once had a heart transplant, will die soon unless he gets a new heart.
8. Fight for My Way – 2017
Fight For My Way is one of my favorite dramas in 2017. Choi Woo-Shik participates, even though only as a supporting role. The drama was written and directed by Im Sang-Choon and Lee Na-Jeong. The drama has 16 episodes and was aired by KBS2, and Woo-Shik plays Park Moo-Bin.
This drama tells a story about Ko Dong-Man, played by Park Seo-joon, who, since high school, has been practicing Taekwondo. But, suddenly, Dong-Man surrenders his dream to become a Taekwondo athlete and works to become an environmental worker. Meanwhile, Choi Ae-Ra, played by Kim Ji-Won, is a woman who, since childhood, has dreamed to become a news anchor. But, now, Ae-Ra works in a department store at the information desk. Dong-Man and Ae-Ra are very close friends. Because of their closeness, they end up liking each other.
Choi Woo-Shik’s Movies and TV Shows
1. Set Me Free – 2014
Set Me Free is a movie that made the name and popularity of Woo-Shik increase. The film is directed and written by Kim Tae-Yong. The film is 106 minutes long, and Woo-Shik plays Young-Jae. Woo-Shik’s acting ability as the main actor in this film is very good and deserves praise. He even received the Best New Actor for his acting in this movie.
The film is about Young-Jae living at the homegroup Isaac’s House. He is set to turn 17, and he has to leave the group. But, he does not want to go back to live with his irresponsible father.
Around others, Young-Jae acts like a model student interested in becoming a priest. Secretly, he steals and tells lies to his friends.
One day, Young-Jae’s father comes to see him. His father tries to dump his younger brother on him. Young-Jae explodes with anger.
2. Train to Busan – 2016
In 2016, Woo-Shik met back with Uee in the Train to Busan movie. Train to Busan is a wonderful movie from 2016. The film was written and directed by Park Joo-Suk, Yeon Sang-Ho and Yeon Sang-Ho with a duration of 116 minutes. Choi Woo-Shik plays Young-Gook and Uee plays Jin-Hee.
The movie, starring Woo-Shik and Gong-Yoo, begins with a freight truck that is allowed through a leaky area. Once there, the truck driver did not see a deer pass through the middle of the road, therefore hitting it. Afterwards, the dead deer turned into a zombie.
Seok-Woo, a financial manager of a company, traveled to Busan with his son Su-an to meet his mother as his daughter’s birthday present. Seok-Woo, who is just divorced from his wife, departs with KTX (Korean fast train) from Seoul with other passengers. As the train departs, a woman with a wound on her foot gets into the train. The woman is trying to attack the train attendant who wants to try to help her. Since then, the zombie woman infected a large number of train passengers.
The train engineer announced that the train would stop at Daejeon where soldiers were on standby to help them. However, when it got there, the station was quiet and there was no one at all. When they realized that the whole army had become zombies, they reentered the train and headed for Busan where the leakage of the virus was cleared.
On the way, they were attacked by a number of zombies and Seok-Woo was bitten by Yong-Suk, played by Kim Eui-Sung, and eventually turns into a zombie. Seok-woo teaches Sung-kyung and Su-An how to stop the train before he leaves them and jumps off the train while it is running.
3. Okja – 2017
Okja is a film that managed to steal the attention of netizens in 2017. Choi Woo-Shik’s only role was as a cameo in this film. Okja was written and directed by Bong Joon-Ho, Jon Ronson and Bong Joon-Ho.
The movie is about Mija, played by Ahn Seo-Hyun, living with his uncle, played by Byun Hee-bong, since childhood since Mija is an orphan. They live in a mountain far from urban areas. Since the age of 4, Mija was very close to his pet pig, Okja, who is entrusted by a large American company called Miranda Corp. for 10 years. Afterwards, they take the pig to participate in the most beautiful pig contest by competing against 25 other superior pig seeds that have spread in 25 countries. The company is engaged in the development of synthetic animal food directly led by Lucy.
After the time came after 10 years, the Miranda company took Okja from Mija’s hand to be brought to New York to enter the contest. The story then follows Mija’s attempts to reunite with Okja.
4. One Night Food Trip Season 1
One Night Food Trip is a Korean variety show that follows some Korean idols to some places where they try different kinds of food. Chow Woo-Shik was a guest on the 17th to 21st episodes. A lot of the food made Woo-Shik happy and was claimed to be delicious.
Woo-Shik tries food like large corn dogs. According to him, corn dogs are very different because they have a very soft texture and are very delicious.
In episode 18, Woo-Shik tries a variety of foods such as french fries, pie cakes, roast beef, soup, and more. Woo-Shik really enjoys his meal. Are you guys tempted?
