Everyone who is into K-Pop must have been familiar with YG Entertainment, especially their two most popular k-pop bands, Bigbang and 2NE1. 2NE1, who debuted in 2009, has gained so much popularity with their 4 members, including CL, Sandara park, Minzy, and Park Bom. 2NE1 has released 3 studio albums, 3 extended plays, and 25 singles so far which led them to lots of success. 2NE1’s Debut Song
2NE1 became first known by appearing in an advertisement song featuring Bigbang “Lollipop” which was released on March 2009; “Lollipop” succeeded at being in top rank of Mnet for 4 weeks.
After that, 2NE1 released their official debut song “FIRE”, on 6 Mei 2009 which was written and produced by Teddy Park from 1TYM. “FIRE” was release in 2 versions of Music Video, 2NE1 – FIRE (Street version) and 2NE1 – FIRE (Space version). “FIRE” is a hip hop/reggae style song, which then formed the identity of 2NE1’s songs. 2NE1’s” Clap Your Hands” was released on 8 September 2010 as the forth single from their first full album “To Anyone”. Their “Clap Your Hands” is a song written by Kim Byunghoon and produced by Teddy Park and team. “Clap Your Hands” is super catchy, as it is one of 2NE1’s electro-pop track. The music video is totally awesome, as Minzy and CL did the rap part in a jungle.
2. 2NE1 – Do You Love Me
2NE1’s “Do You Love Me” was a big hit in 2013, as it was released on 7th August 2013. “Do You Love Me” is another of 2NE1’s electro pop songs. The music video looks so fun because it was filmed in a party scene. The song can also be easily recognized as CL was spelling out D.O. YOU. LOVE. ME. for the song opening.
3. 2NE1 – It Hurts (Slow)
“It Hurts” was 2NE1’s 7th single from their “To Anyone” album. 2NE1 was praised for being able to reach out beyond their original music style. The music video was released on Halloween night, and that’s why the theme was Gothic dark. After the music video was released, not only 2NE1 but YG Ent., was praised for never lacking in new and unique ideas. “It Hurts” is a Pop and R&B song and is one of 2NE1’s most successful song as it reached 1.7 millions downloads by the end of 2010, the digital copies have also sold over 2,300,000 copies.
4. 2NE1 – I Don’t Care
2NE1’s “I Don’t Care” was a hit in 2009. It stayed in the top charts in a lot of music shows, such as Mnet cuntdown, Music Bank, and SBS Inkigayo. This was so especially in Music Bank where “I Don’t Care” stayed in 1st place for 5 weeks continuously. This song shows a more feminine and softer image of 2NE1. “Try to Follow Me” is one of the singles in the “To Anyone” album, but it was previously a song to promote Samsung’s “Corby CF”. It is another of 2NE1’s successful singles, as it was downloaded over 1,770,000 times by the end of 2010, and it sold over 2,400,000 digital copies.
8. 2NE1 – Go Away
“Go Away” was praised as it brought up a story line for the music video, telling a story about a girl who broke up with her boyfriend who is a car-racer. In the music video, CL showed her acting skill, especially when she teared up during the last minute of her race with her ex-boyfriend. The climax was breathtaking as CL’s car bumped her ex boyfriend’s car and exploded. The music video then led to 2NE1 winning the MYX Music Awards 2011 “Favorite K-pop Video Award”. 2NE1 also re-released “Go Away” in Japanese with “It Hurts” for its Japanese title.
9. 2NE1 – Ugly
This is one of 2NE1’s songs that contains a very deep meaning behind it. “Ugly” has a really deep meaning about girls’ jealousy and how they don’t want to be lied to and cursed because of their looks. “Just like her I wanna be pretty / I wanna be pretty / Don’t lie to my face / ‘Cause I know I’m ugly.”
