The First Winner of K-Pop Star and 15&, Park Jimin
Park Ji-min (born on July 5, 1997), or as she’s known by her stage name, Jimin, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, composer, and television host. She’s a member of a duo called 15& under JYP Entertainment, along with her schoolmate Baek Ye-rin. She’s also the member of a project group called M.O.L.A (Make Our Life Awesome), which she formed with UNIQ’s Seung-youn and rapper Nathan. Jimin released her first solo project as part of 15& in 2015 with her first single, titled Hopeless Love.
Park Ji-min already heading for fame when she participated in K-Pop Star: Season 1 in 2011. She was the winner of the very first season of that famous TV Show, and as a result, she was able to choose to sign with any one of the top three agencies in South Korea, YG, SM, and JYP. She decided to sign a contract with JYP Entertainment and was given a brand-new Hyundai i40, 300 million won (worth around $257,400 USD), the opportunity to be cast in a drama, and be able to also sign a contract as a CF mode when she joined the agencyl.
Since then, Jimin’s popularity has skyrocketed. She’s active producing songs, recording songs for drama soundtracks, and is even involved in some TV shows. She and Yerin are currently focusing on their own solo projects. What was Jimin’s most recent comeback? Let’s check it out!
Jimin released her second extended plays on September 4, 2018, and she took part in composing for majority of the tracks. The album is titled jiminxjamie. She called herself Jamie Park when she was studying in Bangkok, Thailand, and the album’s title reflects her dual identity as both Jimin and Jamie. The album has five songs, and the lead track is April Fools (0401).
She said on an interview that she was satisfied with her work because she was able to write her own lyrics and produce on her own, despite singing other’s songs, although it takes a quite long time. She also apologized to the fans for waiting so long and promised to produce more good music for them. Unfortunately, the song did not enter the Gaon Digital Chart, but peaked at number 51 on the Gaon Download Chart.
April Fools (0401) has a dark romance concept. In the MV, Jimin accidentally pushed her abusive boyfriend and he slipped on the birthday cake he brought her, making her worry that she murdered her boyfriend. Although she doesn’t actually seem to love him, Jimin use her boyfriend’s body to make all the romantic moments that she wanted from him but apparently never received.
Some people find a lot of deep meaning in the video, which touches on the issue of abusive relationships. The boy seems to hurt Jimin so much when we see the flashback scenes, but she depends on him and stays in the relationship.
Despite getting a lot of appreciation for the deep messages and good music, the MV has only had about a million views as of yet. Part of that may be due to the fact that the video’s rather dark content earned it a rating of ’19+’. “It’s sad to see such a good song become underrated,” one of the MV viewer’s opinion said.
Jimin made her comeback on the stage at M Countdown on June 6, 2018, where she sang along with two backup dancers. Once again, many people regret that this good song didn’t get much attention and hope JYP could treat her better.
After School Club
Jimin’s currently a co-host in Arirang Tv’s After School Club, which is a kind of South Korean internet-based live-music request television talk show. The original hosts for the show were Eric Nam and Jang Han-byul, and Jimin made her first appearance on it as a guest for episode 67, becoming a co-host of After Show from episode 87 onwards. She was then promoted to co-host the show after the cancellation of After Show.
After some changes in line-up for the MCs, Jimin now hosts the show with the male singer Han Hee-jun, who just joined the show in 2018. The original host, Jang Han-byul, left in 2014, and then Eric Nam left in 2016.
Park Jimin used to delete all of her posts on Instagram. She then posted a photo on January 24 and said, “Will be back with new songs soon, Till then bye, for now, LOVE YOU BABY J.” It might have been a hint for the fans about her comeback with jiminxjamie. She then started to post again, on April 24, 2018. You can see her page on @jiminxjamie, let’s see her recent updates!

Involved in Composing TWICE’s Comeback Single
TWICE released the track for their 3rd Special Album The Year of ‘Yes’ on December 12, 2018, with the new single “The Best Thing I Ever Did”. According to JYP Entertainment, the comeback title track was composed in a very unique way.
